Marçal Prats - Simplicity - Silkscreen Print

As the opening piece of the Philosophy triptych, Simplicity introduces the study of the shifting philosophical narratives of the design practice, exploring the friction between the ordered minimalism of Late Modernism and the fragmented complexity of contemporary Postmodernism.

In an Op Art-inspired composition, horizontal lines progressively increase in intricacy towards a central intersection, symbolising graphic design’s conceptual evolution from structured rationality to present-day eclecticism.

The use of a complementary colour palette—vibrant warm red against deep navy blue—further intensifies this tension. A reverse-order screen-printing technique applies the vibrant red base layer beneath navy blue, preserving the intensity and vibrancy of colour.
