Marçal Prats - Relationship With Audience - Silkscreen Print
Relationship with Audience, the second piece in the Philosophy triptych, invites to discuss how contemporary visual culture interacts with and influences society. This artwork examinesthe evolving relationship between artists, designers and their public— from favouring universal truths to passive observers in Modernism to the Postmodern era, which embraces individual interpretation and active viewer participation.
An Op Art-inspired composition of overlapping concentric circles progressively expands outward, visually evoking the concept of an “echo chamber”. This metaphor references present-day concerns, such as algorithmic bubbles on social media, where communication loops amplify and distort ideas and interpretations.
The artwork celebrates historical Op Art precedents, notably Victor Vasarely and Otl Aicher’s Late Modern visual language developed for the Munich 1972 Summer Olympics.
